Expressive Arts and Healing Framework
Creative Pathways is rooted in evidence-informed expressive arts practices that recognize creativity as a natural pathway to communication, emotional regulation, and meaning-making.
Our Therapeutic Arts Programs:
Use art and writing as tools for reflection and expression rather than performance or evaluation
Emphasize process over product
Support nervous system regulation, self-awareness, and empowerment
Integrate trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approaches
At Healing Pathways Foundation, Erin serves as our Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, leading the expansion of our Creative Pathways program through trauma-informed expressive arts therapy. She develops and facilitates therapeutic expressive arts groups that integrate dance/movement therapy, visual arts, creative writing, music, mindfulness, and other evidence-based creative modalities to support emotional healing and resilience. Erin works alongside our clinical team to provide innovative, culturally responsive interventions that help children, adolescents, and adults process trauma, strengthen emotional regulation, build healthy relationships, and reconnect with their own strengths through creative expression.

What is Dance/movement therapy?
Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) is the psychotherapeutic use of dance, movement, body awareness, and embodied communication to promote healing and overall well-being for individuals, families, and communities. Grounded in the understanding that the mind and body are deeply interconnected, dance/movement therapists observe and work with movement as it naturally emerges within the therapeutic relationship.
Through movement, clients can express emotions that may be difficult to verbalize, improve self-esteem and body image, strengthen communication and relationships, expand healthy coping strategies, and gain greater awareness of patterns that influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Dance/Movement Therapy is practiced in a wide range of settings, including mental health, medical, rehabilitation, educational, and forensic environments, as well as community wellness programs and private practice. It is an evidence-based approach that benefits individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including those experiencing developmental, physical, medical, social, or psychological challenges. At Healing Pathways Foundation, DMT is thoughtfully integrated into our Creative Pathways program to create safe, engaging, and culturally responsive experiences that empower participants to heal, build resilience, and discover new pathways toward wellness through movement and creative expression.
