Angela M. Reid
Founder & Executive Director.
Clinician, Writer, Advocate, and Farmer
Hello!
Angela M. Reid built Healing Pathways Foundation because she knows what it feels like to need one. She has been the person sitting in the dark with hopelessness and worry, unsure which way to turn. She made the decision to do the hard, unglamorous work of healing anyway. That decision changed her life. Then she turned it into an organization.
She is a licensed clinical social worker associate, psychotherapist, and trauma specialist who works at the intersection of somatic therapy, education, and culturally affirming care. Her clinical focus is the treatment of sexual, racial, and generational trauma. The kind of trauma that doesn't arrive with a single event but accumulates across lifetimes, families, and systems. She holds a Master of Social Work and two Master’s of Education, grounding her clinical practice in both the science of healing and the art of teaching others how to access it. But her deepest credential is the one no degree confers: she has walked the path she now holds open for others. She has sat in the very seat she asks her clients to sit in. And that is what makes Healing Pathways Foundation different. It was not designed from theory. It was built from the lived understanding that healing is not a straight line, it is not always comfortable, and it is never something a person should have to do alone.
Under her leadership, Healing Pathways Foundation operates five integrated service pathways, each designed to meet people where they are not where the system says they should be: All of it runs on a set of values she named the GRACE Framework: Grace and Grounding, Resilience, Access and Advocacy, Compassion and Empathy, Empowerment. It is not a slogan on a wall. It is how decisions get made, how staff are trained, and how the Foundation measures whether it is doing what it said it would do.
She works out of Charlotte, North Carolina, and serves communities across North Carolina and Alabama. If you ask her why she does this, she will not give you a speech. She will tell you she does it for the person she used to be, the person she is becoming, and for the ones who are still deciding whether to begin and who they want to become.
